Friday night (August 13) at Mohawk Racetrack saw Ohmygosh Hanover capture a victory in his first career start for trainer Casie Coleman and driver Mark MacDonald by stopping the clock in an incredible 1:51.4.
The 2-year-old son of The Panderosa-Ooh's 'N Aah's left from post eight and followed Dapper Denzil and driver Jody Jamieson from the pocket through fractions of :26.4, :55.4 and 1:23.3 before sprinting home for the 3-1/4 length victory. Dapper Denzil was the runner-up and Scenic Art and driver Randy Waples completed the triactor.
After the victory, no one was more surprised by the time then Casie Coleman.
"I wasn't expecting the (1):51.4 mile that's for sure. He trained down okay, but not like a good or great colt. His first qualifier in 2:00 was horrendous, I don't know what was wrong with him. With babies you never know and this was a very good surprise," Coleman told WEG's media department.
Ohmygosh Hanover was a $52,000 yearling purchase by Tom Hill and now has career earnings of $7,760. He remains eligible to the Nassageweya, Metro Pace, Champlain and Governor's Cup.
Coleman also talks about her other top 2-year-olds including Pretty Katherine, Idyllic and Mater Deo as they prepare for the Eternal Camnation which takes place next Saturday (August 21) at Mohawk Racetrack. (WEG)
