Freshman pacers of both sexes raced in two divisions each of the Maryland Sire Stakes at Rosecroft Raceway Saturday night with two sons of Allie’s Western proving to be the quickest.

In the first colt and gelding split General Nelson was a neck winner for driver John Wagner over Western Sizzler and Brad Hanners in 1:57.2. The colt earned his second victory of the year for trainer Manley Brown Jr. and owner Frederick Kessell.

In the second division Western Jet and Corey Braden prevailed by one-half length over Southern Myles and Todd Schadel in 1:56.1 in his career debut. Colby Hubble trains the gelding for owner Jacob Ramsburg.

In the first of two splits for fillies, Tell Hillary with trainer and co-owner Donnie Rusell in the bike, pulled away to a 1 ˝-length score over Masterful K and Donld Long in 1:57.4 for her second win in as many starts. Ed Needle also co-owns the Misfit lass.

Justasplashofwhite made her first start successful, defeating Firstover Windy and Hanners by one-half length in 1:59.2. Victor Kirby drove the Shotgun Scott filly for trainer Jeff Long and owners Charlene and Daryell Long and Leslie Regan and Carlie Long.
