The freshman pacing colt All Speed Hanover has proven to be most properly named following an impressive start to his racing career.
The 2-year-old son of Cam’s Card Shark has turned heads quickly as he made his delayed debut at The Red Mile on Aug. 24. More impressive than winning the early-closer event for freshman colts and geldings in 1:56.1 was his blazing :26.1 last quarter.
All Speed Hanover re-affirmed his ability by following that effort up with a 1:53.3 victory on Monday, Aug. 31, with a final panel of :27.2 as he drew clear by five lengths with Luke McCarthy driving.
A $60,000 yearling purchase by Adam Victor & Son Stable and John Fielding, All Speed Hanover is a son of Cam’s Card Shark out of the No Nukes mare Allamerican Cool, who is a half sister to the $3.7-million winner Eternal Camnation.
When asked about the colt’s late unveiling, trainer Noel Daley said there was no real reason. Daley said All Speed Hanover was staked to race early, but due to angle issues with his feet he was just not ready. Daley made the decision to take his time and is glad that he did.
“This was a great start for the colt, and The Red Mile is a great track for him to start his racing career, I’m very happy with where he is at,” said Daley. “We’ve been very high on him from the beginning. He’s done everything right thus far.”
With a fresh set of legs and two wins under his belt, Daley said the colt is ready to take on his competitors.
“There are some very fast 2-year-old pacing colts this year, and they’ll be really tough to beat,” Daley said, “but he has had an easy schedule and done everything pretty easy so far. We’ll see how fast he can go when he gets challenged.”
