A fund-raiser was held at The Red Mile clubhouse on Wednesday night for Kentucky veterinarian and Standardbred owner and breeder Andy Roberts. Roberts is running for the Kentucky state Senate and must face an incumbent in a May primary to be the Republican party's name on the ballot in November.
The fund-raiser was attended by veterans of Kentucky's Standardbred breeding and racing industry, who are hopeful Roberts is elected and can give their concerns a voice in the state capitol.
Roberts said running for public office is expensive, and he thanked all who are supporting his cause, including those from out of state who have already sent him checks.
