A pair of New Jersey-sired fillies, Gabbys Dream and Rapsong, along with Regina Hall, turned in winning efforts in the split divisions of the Lady Suffolk for 3-year-old trotting fillies on Friday afternoon at Freehold Raceway.

Gabbys Dream, a daughter of Dream Vacation, evaded a three-horse spill in the stretch to capture her $34,975 division, carded as the sixth race, in the fastest of the three clockings, 1:59.3.

Andy Miller was behind the Julie Miller trainee who was making her first start of the year. Gabbys Dream finished a neck ahead of Hall of Wishes with more than 31 lengths back to Calchips Finisher.

Flirtin Lady, driven by Cat Manzi, was on the lead when the mishap took place, interfering with Sleek Pleasure, driven by David Miller, and O Dana O with Steve Smith in the sulky. According to reports from the track, drivers and horses are okay.

Gabbys Dream, who was purchased for $70,000 in November at the Harrisburg Mixed Sale, was making her 2009 debut and first start for her new connections–-Andray Farms of Punxsutawney, Pa. and William Gregg of Indiana, Pa.

Lifetime, she has a record of three wins, three seconds and one third from 11 starts for earnings of $93,152 of which $17,487 is for her new owners.

At two, Gabbys Dream won the $85,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes final at Freehold on Sept. 23.

Rapsong, a daughter of the late Windsong’s Legacy, had the lead at every call and held on for a three-quarter length victory in the last of the three divisions, the seventh race. She won the $34,975 event in 2:00 flat with her trainer and co-owner, George Dennis, driving. Lynn’s Slider and Snowblind Lindy finished second and third, respectively.

The victory was Rapsong’s second in four starts this year and third of her career. She has a lifetime record of 11 of 17 in-the-money, banking $95,703 for George and Tina Dennis Inc. and Ask W Stables Inc., all of Wyoming, Del.  The filly was a $15,000 Lexington Select Sale purchase.

In the first $35,975 division, the fourth race, Regina Hall won by a head over Allamerican Phoebe with a length back to Graceful Sister in third. The mile was timed in 2:00.

Manzi drove Regina Hall for owner-breeder Domenico Costagliola of Point Pleasant, N.J. The Robert Colasanti trainee was unraced at two and now has four wins in six starts. (SBOANJ)
