Gale Warning ($2.60) gave notice that he has returned to his winning ways with a three-quarter length triumph Wednesday at the isle pompano park in the $10,000 featured trot.

Driven by Wally Hennessey, Gale Warning covered the one-mile race in 1:56.3 for his second win this year for the Lorenzo, Gentile and Pomtambo Stables of Boca Raton. Classical Man (Daryl Bier) was second with last week’s return winner, Battleshoe Victor (David Ingraham) third.

The race started off with Guy Gets Girl (Bruce Ranger) grabbing the early lead but that was short lived as Battleshoe Victor was flying out of the gate to take command at the opening quarter mile in :28.2.

But at that time Hennessey already had Gale Warning at high speed and in the lead as they passed the grandstand the first time. Gale Warning led the field to the half-mile marker in :58. It was then that Classical Man started up first-over to challenge and by the three-quarter pole in 1:27 was inching his way to the front.

As the field started down the stretch, Classical Man could not maintain the pressure on Gale Warning, who had little trouble holding on to the lead to the finish.

Trained by Michile Lorenzo, Gale Warning is a 5-year-old gelding by Strong Gale from the Robespierre mare, Liz’s Promise. It was his 23rd career victory Wednesday. (Pompano Park)
