Gallo to Syracuse

Gallo Blue Chip, the richest pacing Standardbred of all time and 2000 Horse of the Year, will visit the inaugural New York Horse World Expo in Syracuse, N.Y., May 11 to 13. A winner of more than $4.2 million during his career on the track, the gelding has attracted crowds of admirers during his previous equine ambassador appearances.

The Horse World Expo will be presented for the first time in the Empire State at the New York State Fairgrounds following successful annual events in Maryland and Pennsylvania. More than 10,000 visitors are expected during the three-day event that includes 200 vendors and presentations by equine experts and clinicians.

Gallo Blue Chip will be accompanied to Horse World Expo by caretaker Kelly Ford and appears courtesy of trainer Mark Ford and owner Martin Scharf. Gallo Blue Chip will be shown in conjunction with the U.S. Trotting Association and New York Sire Stakes booth in Breed Row of the Center of Progress building. Visitors may see Gallo up close and personal and will learn about the sport of harness racing and alternate careers for Standardbreds.

Hours of the Horse World Expo are noon to 8 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $10 daily for adults, $5 for children age 7-12 and free to children under 7. On Friday and Saturday nights “Theatre Equus,” a musical equine revue, will be presented in the Coliseum for an additional ticket price.
