Gallo wins 52nd

Making his 124th career start, Gallo Blue Chip won for the 52nd time, holding on by a nose after a thrilling stretch duel with LCB in a $17,000 conditioned pace at the Meadowlands Saturday night.



With Daniel Dube in the bike behind the 2000 Horse of the Year, Gallo charged first-over in the last turn and took the lead, only to have a game LCB (Ron Pierce) come up alongside. The two reached the wire noses apart in 1:52.4 with the photo showing Gallo the winner, his first trip to the winner's circle since capturing a Presidential leg last January.



With more than $4.2 million in earnings, Gallol is the richest pacer of all-time. Martin Scharf owns the 7-year-old son of Magical Mike who is trained by Mark Ford.
