Gaming legislation to be filed in Massachusetts

Gary T. Piontkowski, President of Plainridge Racecourse, today applauded Speaker DeLeo's plan to file gaming legislation that includes the 100 acre horse track in Plainville, Massachusetts, located at the intersection of Routes 1 and 495.

"Speaker DeLeo's vision and continuing support of the blue collar workforce that is horse racing and breeding in Massachusetts, could be the economic jump start Massachusetts is begging for," Piontkowski said.

At Plainridge alone 1,600 families currently derive a livelihood from the town's largest employer and taxpayer.

"We are shovel ready and prepared to leave the gate on all cylinders," said the Plainridge president. "Our plan will be to become the gatekeeper of Massachusetts residents currently passing by our facility on their way to Rhode Island and Connecticut casinos. Our plan would put to work over a thousand construction workers and 600 full time employees in the first phase alone. We stand prepared to begin immediately and look forward to working with the legislature in the coming weeks." (Plainridge)
