Longtime harness racing participant Gary Charette passed peacefully at his home in Florida on Feb. 29. He was 64.
Charette worked with the horses for many years. He was the caretaker for world champion Dragon's Lair for the Jeff Mallet Stable and also worked for the Jim Miller Stable, where another of his favorites was Brace Yourself. Until his retirement last year he had worked 13 years at Walt Disney World.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila; stepchildren Lydia and Jeffrey; and his sisters Chris Reilly (Rick) and Lynda Kline (Jack). (Standardbred Canada)
