GC at Springfield postponed

Monday's racing at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield has been cancelled because of wet conditions. Monday's first day of Grand Circuit racing will be combined with Tuesday's card beginning with a first post time of noon CDT.



The Springfield oval was soaked by day-long rain on Sunday but an overcast sky all Monday morning did not give race officials an opportunity to dry the track. When rain began falling again shortly before 1 p.m. it was decided to cancel the day's program, which had been scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday's races were also scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m., but will start at noon in order to get both race cards completed. Races Wednesday and Thursday are scheduled to start at noon.
