The two-day run of the Tompkins-Geers Stakes came to a conclusion at Tioga Downs on Monday night. Marcus Johansson and Don’t Blink Twice won the second division for 2-year-old colt and gelding trotters in a track record time of 1:59.3.

The $100,000 yearling purchase is trained by Jimmy Takter and owned by the Don’t Blink Twice Partnership of Versailles, Ky. Penn Monie Mosie and driver Brian Zendt finished second and Springboard and driver Tony Schadel closed late and finished third.

Takter and Quite Easy, a $125,000 yearling, won the other division for 2-year-old colt and gelding trotters for the Quite Easy Partnership of Versailles, Ky., by 2 1/2 lengths in 2:01 over That’s Hall Folks (Ron Pierce) and Double Take (Mike Simons) finished third.

Driver Daniel Dube and Omen Hanover won the first division for 2-year-old pacing fillies by reaching the half-mile pole in 1:00.4 and then pacing a blistering back half, in :55.4, which repelled all challengers. They went on to win in 1:56.3. Dragon Flier K and Simons finished second and Spring Break and Brian Sears closed late and finished third.

Elusive Prey won her second in a row at Tioga Downs, with driver George Brennan aboard, in the second division for 2-year-old pacing fillies. Having gotten a pocket trip behind the heavy favorite, Fiore Hanover, Brennan found racing room in the stretch and won in 1:56.2. Prime Suspect and driver-trainer Duke Sugg finished second and My Face and Simons raced first-over and finished third.

Track record holder South Park Hanover and driver Sears won the $22,700 Tioga Tirade Series final. Sears sent the 4-year-old son of Artsplace right to the front, never looked back, and won by 5 1/2 lengths. A longshot, HH BlackJack, finished second for driver Claude Huckabone III and Upscale Hanover and Jim Meittinis closed late and finished third. (Tioga Downs)
