Bettor Thantherest ($2.40) certainly lived up to his name once again as the 4-year-old gelding won the $8,500 second leg of the Springboard Pacing Series in a romp by 4 1/2 lengths Wednesday at the Isle Pompano Park.

And for the third time in his last four starts, Bettor Thantherest won the race in the identical time of 1:53.4, his lifetime mark.

The sixth race co-feature saw Mr. Frank Ster (Richard Simard) go right out to the early lead with Bettor Thantherest and trainer-driver Bruce Ranger grabbing the two-hole spot to the opening quarter mile in :28. But Ranger came right back with a quarter move and Bettor Thantherest went right to the front.

After the half mile marker in :57.3, Kevlar Hanover and driver Andy Santeramo came first-over and they were able to collar Bettor Thantherest and those two battled head and head past the three-quarters in 1:25.2.

But as they started down the stretch, Kevlar Hanover ran out of stream as Bettor Thantherest pulled away from the field. Force To Rekinwith (Walter Ross Jr.), a 75-1 longshot, finished second with Mr Frank Ster third.

It was the fifth win this year for Bettor Thantherest, who is owned by the Fred Monteleone Stable of Pompano Beach and Salvatore Promuto of New Rochelle, N.Y.

Bettor Thantherest will be the favorite next Wednesday in the $17,500 final of the Springboard Pacing Series.

In the $7,200 second leg of the Spring Fling Trotting Series for $8,000 claimers, Doc’s All Class ($3.20) won for the second straight week with a 1:58.1 triumph for driver Ranger. Leading from start to finish, Doc’s All Class held off a late closing Curly Whirly (Andy Santeramo) and the pocket-sitting Slated For Success (Fern Paquet Jr.) to win by a half length.

It was the seventh win this year for Doc’s All Class. The 7-year-old gelding by Robespierre is trained by Mike Deters and owned by the Deters, Burch and Fishman Stables.  Doc’s All Class will now take on Streetwise Hall next week in the $16,000 Spring Fling Trotting Series final.

There were two $7,000 second round divisions of the Aime Choquette Trotting Series Wednesday. The first division saw previously unbeaten Whosgoinwhosstayin ($2.60) and driver Mickey McNchol rebound from his first loss ever last week, wiring the field by three and one-quarter lengths in a lifetime best 1:58 victory over GW Gracie Dane (Ranger) and Wesleys Fortune (David Ingraham).

It was the first win in two starts this year for Whosgoinwhosstayin and the 13th win in 14 career starts for the Florida-bred three-year-old gelding by Basil. Whosgoinwhosstayin is trained and co-owned by Linda Kakaley with breeder Sophia Valkanoff of Pompano Beach.

In the second division, it was the duo of Ranger and Mike Deters teaming up again to win with Super Lotto ($3.20) in 1:58.3. The pocket-sitting Trot Monster (Ingraham) was second with Keya Maria (Chuck Connor Jr.) third.

Winning by 1 3/4 lengths, it was the third victory this year for Super Lotto. The 4-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Wewering is co-owned by James Armstrong and Deters.

Whosgoinwhosstayin, Super Lotto and the filly, Spiceberry Hanover (who was scratched sick tonight) will meet next Wednesday in the $17,500 final of the Aime Choquette Trotting Series.

Ranger had the hot hands Wednesday, winning four of the 12 races on the program. (Pompano Park)
