George F. Patterson Sr., 86, a former Commissioner on the Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission, died Jan. 29, 2009. He was living in Naples, Florida. Mr. Patterson made his mark in the industrial world as the founder of EUR Datacenter Inc. He was the father-in-law of Gerald Hempt, son of Harness Hall of Famer Max C. Hempt, and came to serve on the Harness Racing Commission, often asking sharp, pointed questions that revealed his business acumen. Mr. Patterson was preceded in death in 2005 by his wife, Rita Corish Patterson, whom he devoted a great deal of affection and time to during her terminal illness. Mass will be offered at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, in Camp Hill, Pa., with private interment to follow at Rolling Green Memorial Park.
