After finishing second in both initial rounds of The Diplomat Pacing Series for three-year-old colts and geldings, Get Out Of Dodge turned the tables on rivals in Saturday night's $78,000 final at Mohawk Racetrack.

With Phil Hudon at the controls, the son of Artiscape - Dodge Kitty got away in mid pack from post six and watched as Shadow Play and driver Rick Zeron left hard from the outside post nine to establish command right at the opening marker in :26.3.

As the field approached the half, Stonebridge Magnum, who had yielded the lead in the first quarter, popped back around to the front with Get Out Of Dodge rolling up on the outside to challenge. Following the :55.2 opening half, Hudon coaxed his charge to the front and led the field towards the third station.

At that point, the first leader, Shadow Play, who was trying for a series' sweep, came back to the outside from third and challenged the pacesetter through three quarters in 1:23.2.

As the field turned for home, Shadow Play stalled in his bid for the lead while Get Out Of Dodge hit another gear, widening his lead coming to the finish. Longshots Windsun Thunder and Scottery Tickets rallied along the inside to finish second and third respectively while Shadow Play hung on for fourth. The winner returned $12.00.

The 1:51.2 clocking was a new lifetime mark for Get Out Of Dodge who recorded his fifth win of the season in just eight starts for trainer Murray Brethour and owners the Springwater Stables, Noblock Racing Stable and Daniel Sarafian of Ontario.

The lion's share of the purse boosted his seasonal bankroll to $80,000. (WEG)
