Ginger And Fred dances to easy PASS victory

August 10, 2009 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Backed at odds of 1-20, Ginger And Fred turned in yet another commanding victory, unasked in a 1:50.3 mile in Pennsylvania Sire Stakes action for 3-year-old pacing fillies on Sunday afternoon at Harrah's Chester Casino and Racetrack.

Dave Palone sat early with the daughter of Real Artist-Graceful Motion, moving to the front well past a :27 first quarter, enabling Gordyyy's Pet (Ron Pierce) to clear the front before giving Ginger And Fred her cue. Under minimal hand-driving and nary a strike of the whip throughout the mile, she brushed to the front and controlled the intermediate fractions before striding away comfortably and powerfully through the stretch, widening her margin of victory to 5 3/4 lengths over Insider Tip (George Napolitano Jr.) and Kiss Me Kate (Daniel Dube).

Ron Burke trains Ginger And Fred for the partnership of Howard Taylor, Robert Feldman, Edwin Gold, and Jerry Silva. She has won five straight races, and 12 of 22 starts in her career.

Palone claimed a stakes driving double, also aboard Blogette Hanover (Allamerican Native-Bikini Hanover) in a 1:51.3 effort. Idol (Sharky Spur-Beam of Joy), driven by Tony Morgan, took a 1:51.1 upset win over Blogette Hanover, and Hatsaway (Western Hanover-Hatsoff Hanover) turned in a 1:52.1 effort under Andrew McCarthy.
