On Thursday afternoon at Harrah's Chester, the 6-year-old trotter Vivid Photo had somebody besides trainer and co-owner Roger Hammer in the driver's seat for just the second time over his 77-start career, and Yannick Gingras successfully directed the son of SJ's Photo to a 1:52.4 victory.
Leaving from post seven in the $40,000 Open, Gingras got caught three wide early, but after taking back briefly he brushed his charge to the front and led the rest of the distance. Gingras joined Ray Paver, who was behind Vivid Photo in an April 2005 race at The Meadows, as the only other driver besides Hammer to ever sit behind the 2007 Trotter of the Year in a pari-mutuel contest.
Owned by Hammer and Todd Schadel, the win was Vivid Photo's 36th career victory, increasing his earnings to $2,943,758.
