Yannick Gingras phoned the Meadowlands on Wednesday afternoon to say that Team North America has clinched the title in the World Trotting Master international driving competition in Italy.
In the final round of competition held Wednesday at Treviso, Italy, Gingras, Mike Lachance and Jody Jamieson prevailed over their European competition with 98 points to Team Italy’s 83 and Team Europe’s 82. Gingras won two races, while Lachance and Jamieson also had a win apiece. Although Team Italy had seven wins, Team North America had more in-the-money finishes over the four-day, 16-race competition, which was spread over four Italian tracks: Bologna, Turin, Trieste and Treviso. “Everybody had a great time and the mood was especially jubilant today with the return of (kidnapped Italian trotter) Equinox Bi,” Gingras said. Gingras plans to return to driving at the Meadowlands on Thursday night. (Meadowlands)
