Glass Pack kept his young record perfect in seven starts with a 1:50.4 victory in the $50,000 Illinois State Fair Colt Stakes as racing came to a conclusion at Springfield with a 14-race card that included six Colt Stakes finals.
Driven by Dale Hiteman, Glass Pack never saw the rail, but followed live cover to the three quarters where he tipped three wide and came home in :27.2 for a 1 1/4-length victory over Odds On Doubledog and Tim Tetrick with Mahdi and Andy Miller third.
A gelded son of Cole Muffler, Glass Pack is trained by Tom Simmons for the ownership of Desyllas Racing, Larry Breed, William Beck and Benita Simmons. The time for Glass Pack lowered his own national season’s record.

Oxford Brilliance in 1:57.3 in the 2-year-old colt and gelding trot. The gelding son of Brilliant Victory winning his 10th race in 11 starts for 87-year-old Kermit Hinshaw and his cousin James Hinshaw. It was 30 years ago this year that Kermit Hinshaw won a heat of the Review Stakes at Springfield with his great trotter Jodavin.
Kiss Of Heaven took the 2-Year-old filly pace in 1:53.1 for Bent Holland, trainer Ervin Miller and Vandalay Racing.
Street Dancer captured the 3-year-old filly pace in 1:50.3 for Hiteman, trainer Nelson Willis and owners Terry Rathgeber, Dr. Ted Lock, Jim Reynolds and former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar.
Maple Grove Native won the 2-year-old filly trot in 1:58.3 for Sam Widger and trainer, owner, breeder Joseph Mullins.
Miss Imperial captured the 3-year-old filly trot in 1:53.3 for Andy Miller, trainer Erv Miller and owners Jack Hood, Mystical Marker Farms and the Erv Miller Stable.
