You can grab a piece of harness racing history on eBay, where a specially commissioned artist’s print of the journal cover from the 2006 Night of Champions, at which Triple Crown-winning trotter Glidemaster was named Horse of the Year, is being offered for sale.
The cover has been reworked to reflect Glidemaster’s victory and is autographed by trainer Blair Burgess and drivers John Campbell and George Brennan, who guided the colt to history.
This is a one-of-a-kind print specially created by award winning New York Daily News cartoonist Ed Murawinski. It measures 11x17. In addition, this package includes gloves from Campbell, who on Nov. 24 added to his Hall of Fame resume by reaching the $250-million mark in career purse earnings. Also, the Burgess family will provide shoes worn by their great champion.
The auction benefits the Clyde Hirt Journalism Workshop, which provides college students the chance to be exposed to harness racing while covering the Hambletonian and working with professionals within the sports writing and public relations fields. The auction is being conducted by the U.S. Harness Writers Association through Harness Racing Communications, a division of the U.S. Trotting Association. (USHWA)
