The class prevailed in Sunday’s $91,100(C) Glorys Comet Trotting Series final at Woodbine with Armbro Chronicle turning in a devastating front-end victory for driver Mike Saftic in 1:53.4.

Making his fourth appearance in the Glorys Comet, the 8-year-old gelded son of Self Possessed-Pat Honey blasted straight to command from post five and led the field through a brisk opening panel of :26.2. He was then able to steal a breather in the second quarter when challengers Sakic Seelster and Enny Youngman both made breaks in stride.

Armbro Chronicle took the field past the half in :56 with Maple Leaf Buddy moving up to challenge as the they hit the third station in 1:25.1. Armbro Chronicle would not let that rival up to his wheel and built up a comfortable cushion as the field turned for home.

In the end, Armbro Chronicle was easily able to hold Maple Leaf Buddy at bay with Macho Lindy following along the inside to finish in third.

Armbro Chronicle kicked back $4.20 to his backers as the top choice in the wagering.

It was the 38th career win for Armbro Chronicle who is co-owned by trainer Kent Baker along with Cal Patterson, Jo Smith and Randy Fielder.

The winner’s share of the purse bumped his career bankroll to just over $1.3 million. (WEG)
