Three divisions of the Maryland Sire Stakes for sophomore trotters were held as early, non-wagering events on Monday at Rosecroft Raceway, and each of the winners, sired by Go Get Lost, trotted wire to wire in their respective races. In the first division, Dilly Dally Delia went down the highway with Vic Kirby at her lines. Racing for a purse of $3,000, the Go Get Lost filly took to the top from post seven and continuously drew away from the pack through quarters of :28.3, :57.4 and 1:28.
Trained by John Wilkerson for owner Benjamin Brooks, Dilly Dally Delia won by over 19 lengths in 1:57.3. With this win, Dilly Dally Delia tied the Maryland Sire Stakes record for 3-year-old filly trotters that was previously set by Dani Doodles (Tuned-Amelia J) on July 1, 2000.
After breaking stride at the gate, Secret Impression recovered for second. Driven by John Wagner for trainer Manley Brown Jr., the daughter of Go Get Lost regained her confidence through the early portion of the mile for a trip timed in 2:01.3. Pamela Wagner owns the filly. Go Get Blanche, after coming from behind, closed for third with trainer Dan Myer in the bike. The Go Get Lost filly races for owners James McGinnis and the Bdmck Stable. The colts were up in the second race for $3,000, and Montabello Jake--a gelded son of Go Get Lost--stole the show in 2:00.4.
Heading straight to the top from post three, driver Donnie Russell rated the mile through early fractions of :30, :59.3 and 1:30.3. The gelding won by 3 2/4 lengths for owner-trainer Syl King Jr.
Magic Mountain, through a pocket trip, was second with Corey Braden at his lines. The Presto Hanover gelding, trained by Ken Shand for the Serendipity Stable, was game throughout the mile and closed in :30.3. Chef Tommy D, the longshot winner last week, finished third. Driven by trainer Kelly Staten, the Go Get Lost colt trotted first-over to make the mile exciting. Kursk led a field of five in another $3,000 division for colts and geldings, winning by three lengths for owner Shirley Shand. The Go Get Lost gelding stopped the clock at each corner in :30.1, 1:01.4, and 1:33.2 for a final time of 2:02.3. Frank Milby drove the winner for trainer Ken Shand. Go Get Jacqui closed up the rail with a final fraction of :29.2 with trainer Syl King Jr. at his lines. The Go Get Lost gelding is co-owned by Joseph Benedetti, Rosalind Silletto and King. Goalline Stand, another Go Get Lost gelding, finished third. Vic Kirby drove for trainer Ken Schlotzhauer, and Kelley Rogers owns. (Rosecroft)
