The Ontario Racing Commission has fined Kerry and Shirley House, the owners of recent Gold Cup and Saucer winner All The Weapons, $34,687(C) for racing the horse who was ineligible due to provincial restrictions in the contest at Charlottetown Driving Park. The Kerrys had claimed All The Weapons on July 3 at Mohawk, but Ontario rules prohibit a claimed horse racing outside the province for the next 60 days following a claim.
The Kerrys were fined the total amount All The Weapons earned in his victories in both the Gold Cup and Saucer elim and final. In earlier reports, Shirley House stated she and her husband were informed prior to the race of the rule but they went ahead and entered the horse anyway. After the race she was quoted as saying she expected to be fined, but that it wouldn’t take away the thrill of winning the historical race.
