January 21, 2012 | Print View

Golden Receiver and Vintage Master won their respective $40,000 divisions of the second round of the Presidential Series for free-for-all pacers Saturday night at the Meadowlands. Golden Receiver won in 1:49.2 as he won for the fifth straight time and second in the Presidential Series, while Vintage Master, third in his Presidential opener last Saturday night, was victorious in 1:49.1.

Vintage Master took the first-over route to victory in the first Presidential split as Daniel Dube directed the 6-year-old son of Western Ideal to the one-length win over Annieswesterncard, with Blatantly Good third. In winning for the first time in three starts this year, Vintage Master used a final quarter of :26.1 to earn the hard-fought victory.

Owned and bred by Brittany Farms and the Brian Monieson Revocable Trust, Vintage Master raced Saturday night for lessee Winbak Farm on Canada, where he is heading to stallion duty following next weekend's $110,500 Presidential final at the Meadowlands. Trained by Jimmy Takter, Vintage Master has career earnings of $2,152,113.

Golden Receiver led at every call for driver Brian Sears to score the three-quarters of a length victory over I Wanna Go Fast, with River Shark--a winner in the first leg of the Presidential--third. Golden Receiver posted fractions of :26.2, :55.4 and 1:23.4 before closing out his win with a final quarter of :25.3.

Trained by Mark Harder, Golden Receiver is a 7-year-old gelded son of Village Jove. Owned by Stable 45, Richard Taylor, Stephen Springer and breeder Nina Simmonds, Golden Receiver increased his career earnings to $708,733.
