Driver Eric Goodell won both divisions of the Duke-North Carolina Pacing Series at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs on Saturday afternoon. Goodell cashed in with a pair of favorites in the first leg of the series for pacers eligible to be claimed for $15,000. Jack Q, trained by Joe Hundertpfund, Jr., won in 1:54, and Strad Hanover got it done in 1:53.3 for trainer Chris Oakes. Saturday also marked the first leg of the Army-Navy Trotting Series. Four divisions were raced, and No More Gold N, driven and trained by Keith Kash, Jr., shipped-in from Batavia and posted the series’ fastest time with a win in 1:55.4. It was the third straight win for the 9-year-old gelding. Other Army-Navy winners were Jimmy Shin, in 1:57.2, driven by Kevin Sizer for trainer John Sokol; Glide Patern, in 1:57.1, with Anthony Morgan in the bike for Nat Varty; and Good And Plenty, in 1:56, driven by Jim Taggart, Jr. and trained by John McDermott. The series are part of the Great Rivalries Series, which began last week at Pocono. (Pocono)
