Goodtimes to Majestic Son

June 17, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Majestic Son overcame starting from post eight to capture the $280,600 Goodtimes final Saturday night at Woodbine, scoring over Glidemaster in 1:53.2.

Three horses made early breaks, including post-time favorite Algiers Hall, who didn’t make the gate. Campbell Hall and then Majestic Hall were the early leaders as the first quarter was passed in :27.4, then driver Jack Moiseyev moved from fourth with B Cor Rennegate.

Majestic Son hit the half in :57.3 and then opened up five lengths on the field. B Cor Rennegade made a break, taking him out of contention. Glidemaster launched another strong rally through the homestretch, just as he did in his elimination the previous week, but he fell short and settled for second. Longshot Lovin Every Moment was third.

Majestic Son is a son of Angus Hall trained by Mark Steacy and owned by David Reid, David McDonald, Dr. Malcolm Song Hing and the AK Malik Stable. He brought $33,000 as a yearling at the Forest City Sale in Canada.

Last year Majestic Son won five races and finished on the board in 10 of 13 starts, earned $527,886, and took a mark of 1:55.4 at Mohawk. His Goodtimes score came in his fourth start of the season.
