Go On BB lowers Meadows track record

Go On BB blazed a mile in 1:51.3, establishing a track record for 4-year-old mares in Fridays $23,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Under Dave Palones urging, Go On BB gunned for the lead from post position 9, then released a parked-out Streetcarnamedsire and settled into the pocket. The daughter of Dontgetinmyway-Challo BB exploded in the lane, coming home in :27.4 to down Streetcarnamedsire by 1-1/2 lengths. Dont Blame Her was third.

The time erased the old mark of 1:51.4 set by Are Those Real in 2004; Palone was aboard for that trip as well. Mickey Burke trains Go On BB for Frank Baldachino.

Also featured on the Friday card were three $8,000 divisions of the second leg of the A.W. Capone series for freshman colt and gelding trotters. Alot Like Kevin, who had been winless in four starts, eked out a nose victory over Bad As Billy in 2:01.2, with Assai Piu Mosso finishing third. Tony Hall piloted the son of Ilooklikemymom-Donna L for trainer Steve Cross and owners Patricia and Kevin Cross.
