Go On BB now two-for-two at Hoosier Park

April 18, 2008 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Racing down the stretch, Go On BB, driven by Ricky Macomber Jr., was able to edge out JD’s Lady Lynn, controlled by Jason Dillander, to win the $23,000 Fillies and Mares Invitational Pace Friday, April 18, at Hoosier Park. Neither mare would give in, with Go On BB getting the slight edge at the wire by only a neck.

Dashing out of the gate, JD’s Lady Lynn was able to take the lead with Go On BB sitting right at her back. Reaching the quarter-mile mark in a time of :26.1, Jetstream Cute Cam and Walter Haynes Jr. joined the top two for the top position.

After the half-mile mark, Jetstream Cute Cam was on the outside as JD’s Lady Lynn and Go On BB kept up the pace on the inside. Nearing the three-quarter mile mark in a time of 1:24.0, Me and My Baby, commanded by Brooke Nickells, was making a move to get into position for the stretch drive.

In the stretch, Go On BB and JD’s Lady Lynn began to take each other on, with JD’s Lady Lynn veering out just enough to give Go On BB room to move up even with her. With the finish line approaching, these two were side by side, with Go On BB winning in the final stride in a time of 1:51.4, the fastest mile of the 2008 meet thus far.

“She’s a real competitor,” Macomber said. “I felt we had a pretty good first quarter, but was concerned with the time at the beginning. However, she responded well and is stronger at the end of the race.”

This year, the four-year-old Go On BB, owned by Frank D. Baldachino and trained by Mickey Burke, has won two races in her two attempts. The Indiana-sired daughter of Dontgetinmyway has earned over $450,000 in her lifetime. Go On BB returned $3.40, $2.60, and $2.10 for her latest efforts. (Hoosier Park)
