Sophomores Go On BB and Search Engine are at the head of their respective classes. Saturday night at Indiana Downs each pacer collected another win in the third round of Indiana Sires Stakes competition. Go On BB triumphed in 1:52.2 while Search Engine stopped the clock in 1:53. Go On BB competed in one of two $12,000 splits for filly pacers Saturday. Driven by Ricky Macomber Jr. the sophomore took control of the non-betting contest after early in the backstretch. Once on the point, the Dontgetinmyway filly cruised to a two and three-quarter length victory for trainer Mickey Burke. Postmark finished second for driver Joe Putnam and Glory G, the early race leader, was third. Owned by Frank Baldachino, Go On BB collected her 12th victory of the season in 14 starts. The winning time equaled her lifetime best. In the other division Caribbean Key sprinted home in :27.4 to win the non-betting race in a time of 1:53.2. Driven by Don Irvine Jr. for trainer Alex Adam, the Whitefish Falls filly added her second win of the season. Missnamaras finished nearly four lengths back in second and JD’s Lady Lynn rounded out the trifecta. Two $12,000 divisions were also offered for sophomore pacing colts. Search Engine won the first event, a non-betting contest, by four and one-quarter lengths. Mark O’Mara and the Electric Yankee colt took advantage of a pocket trip behind pacesetter Dontgetintheway before dashing to the wire with a :26.4 last quarter. Dontgetintheway remained second and Bluebird Radar and Don Eash rounded out the trifecta. Bred and owned by George McClarnon, Search Engine has earned $98,400 this season in 11 starts. Conditioned by Dave White, the colt has won nine times while finishing off the board only once. Rocket Fuel blasted to victory in the lane Saturday evening to win the second ISS contest for sophomore pacing colts in 1:52.3. With Jay Cross in the bike, the favorite finished a quarter length in front of Full Of Power and Andy Shelter. Bob’s Alibi raced third. The Alvin Miller-trained gelding got away sixth in the field of eight for Cross while Dontakeyourguns clicked off fractions of :27.3 and :56.2 for Trace Tetrick. Rocket Fuel was able to grab cover from Direct Lease, carrying the pacer to the front as the field raced out of the final turn. When Cross asked Rocket Fuel he exploded with a :27 final panel. Rocket Fuel is owned by Phil Harts. The sophomore added his seventh win in 13 seasonal starts. The time established a new lifetime mark. The gelding’s previous best was a 1:53 clocking.
