Got ‘Er Done, the last foal of former world champion Storm Damage, continued his dominant performances at Hoosier Park Racing and Casino Saturday, May 16, winning the second round of the Indiana Sires Stakes. The 3-year-old pacing colt rallied from off the pace to win in a time of 1:55.2 for his fourth win in a row.
Guided by regular driver Ricky Macomber, Got ‘Er Done simply eased back at the start and watched as Stiltz and Charlie Conrad made the decision to lead the pack through fractions of :27.0 and :57.1 over a slightly wet track. Macomber moved Got ‘Er Done out and began to follow the flow forward around the final turn before turning the Storm Damage colt loose in the lane.
In the stretch, Got ‘Er Done took a few steps to get into high gear, but as soon as all cylinders hit, he surged forward and past his rivals with ease, winning by two and three-quarter lengths over King Me and Peter Wrenn. Bernardi and Trace Tetrick held steady inside for third. Got ‘Er Done is owned by trainer Jerry Smith along with his wife, Betty, and their daughter, Christine Hecht. The sophomore sensation increased his career earnings to more than $45,000 with the win. The win was one of three on the Sires Stakes card for Macomber, who is a member of the Fab Five at Hoosier Park. Macomber also guided Justlikegarland home in the trotting fillies division of Indiana Sires Stakes. Justlikegarland won her division handily in 2:00.1 for trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Frank Baldachino, and Loren Raber. The three-year-old daughter of ABC Garland is two for two in 2009. Another Burke horse was in the winner’s circle in the first division for the colt pacers as Evening Job completed his task for Macomber in a time of 1:54.3. Early speed got him in position and he later was able to follow heavily favored Suprizemeagain and Peter Wrenn to the stretch. Evening Job eased out and found the best stride in the lane to take home the victory by one and one-quarter lengths over Master Regan and Mark O’Mara. Hawk’s Copperstone and Jason Dillander moved in for third. Evening Job is owned by Burke Racing, Bruscemi and Baldachino along with JJK Stables. The sophomore son of Dream Work now has two wins in two starts for 2009 also, and boosts his career bankroll over the $100,000 barrier. Other Indiana Sire Stakes winners on the day included Matts Image and Wrenn, winning against the three-year-old colt pacers. An easy win by two and three-quarter lengths was recorded by the Mattnamaras Band gelding in a time of 1:55.0. Bill Dailey trains Matts Image, who now has four wins in six starts in 2009.
