Gotta Go Moe was told you gotta go at the top of the lane and the 3-year-old gelded brother of world champion Incredible Tillie responded by sweeping past the leaders and scoring a 1:49.3 victory in the $50,000 Illinois State Fair Colt Stakes final at Springfield late Wednesday afternoon. Brent Holland was in the bike for the Erv Miller-trained son of Incredible Finale who waited patiently through fractions of :26.2, :53.4 and 1:21.4 before tipping four wide in the turn and rushing home for his fourth triumph of the year in eight starts. Tanah Merah Farms LLC owns the winner, while Miller-trained horses swept the top four positions in the race. Another come-from-behind effort was turned in by Thundercrack and Sam Widger in the $50,000 final for 3-year-old trotting colts. The Valley Victor colt didn’t get a call until he burst out of the pack in mid-stretch and posted a 1:56 victory, his second of the year in five starts. Roger Welch trains the colt for owners G&B Stable, James Fuhse and Vincent Nardiello. Welch also trains Spunky Vic, who was nosed out by Victory Hill for second.
