July 28, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Eleven-year-old pacing gelding G TS Graig posted a 1:51 victory Thursday night at the Meadowlands, just three-fifths of a second off the world record for his age group. The win in the $20,000 claimer was his eighth of the year, just one shy of equaling his career-high nine wins in 2000.

G TS Graig has started 239 times over his career, with 34 victories. The son of Bomb Rickles is currently being trained by Terry Deters, who claimed him for owners William Harke, Howard Perlmutter and HDS Stable May 17 for $15,000. Prior to that he had been in trainer Kevin McDermott’s barn, who claimed him for $15,000 on March 15 from trainer Ross Croghan.

Despite changing hands several times over his long career, G TS Graig has continued to churn out wins. In five of the past seven years he has earned a mark of 1:51 or better, including a career-best 1:50.1 effort at Balmoral Park in 2000.

After earning more than $225,000 in 2000-01, G TS Graig won only once in 51 starts over the next two years, with $54,000 in earnings. He has now gone on to post a career bankroll of $472,131.

Out of the Walton Hanover mare Ireland, G TS Graig is a full brother to $100,000-plus winners GTS Irish Dancer, G TS Jet and GTS JJ.
