Sweet Baby Jan led from start to finish in pacing the fastest of five $10,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Green Acres Division races on the opening day program of the Freehold Raceway fall meet Thursday.

The 3-year-old pacing filly, sired by Artiscape, won by six lengths in 1:57.2 with Jack Baggitt Jr. driving for trainer George Berkner and owners Schwartz, Berkner and Aaron. Eagle Boots was a distant second, while the favorite, Spark Of Pacific, finished third.

Boca Beckons, a daughter of Cam’s Card Shark, paced to a 1:57.3 victory in her $10,000 race, winning by 3 1/4 lengths with Hall of Famer Cat Manzi driving. Ben Stafford was the winning trainer for owners Stafford, Eggert and Warren. Life’s Memories finished second, while the favorite, Public Life, was third.

In three $10,000 divisions of 2-year-old pacing colts and geldings, the winners were: Beware Of Darkness in 1:57.4, Ghee’s House in 1:58.4, and Friday Nite Lights in 1:59.2. (NJSS)
