Yonkers Trot winner Green Day carries a two-race winning streak into the $85,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes final for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings on Friday at Freehold Raceway.  The gelded son of Enjoy Lavec, driven by Cat Manzi and trained by Jim Raymer, has been installed as the 6-5 morning line favorite in the field of eight in the sixth-race feature.

A $6,000 yearling purchase for Raymer’s Trillium Racing Stable of New Holland, Pa., Green Day has nine wins, one second and two thirds from 16 starts this year for earnings of $567,175 toward a career total of $611,545.

Green Day, in the process of winning a New Jersey Stakes leg on June 7 at the Meadowlands, posted his lifetime best of 1:54.1 and set a New Jersey Sire Stakes record for 3-year-old gelded trotters on the mile track.

The 3-year-old New Jersey Sire Stakes records on Freehold’s half-mile course belong to the filly Bee Line (1:55.2 on Sept. 7, 2006), the geldings Arnold Plumstead (1:56 on Oct. 9, 1997) and Armbro Copenhagen (1:56 on Aug. 26, 2005) and the colt Chasing Tail (1:57.1 on Aug. 24, 2001).

In addition to Green Day, the New Jersey Sire Stakes final includes three sons of Dream Vacation (Princetonian, Our Little Dip and Hope Reins Supreme), two by Muscles Yankee (Yankee Splinter and Hulk Logan) and two by Yankee Glide (Gladhand and Altered States).
