Fifteen 3-year-old trotters--14 colts and one gelding--have been entered for the $724,770 Yonkers Trot at Yonkers Raceway, the second jewel of the Trotting Triple Crown, and eliminations to pare the field down to eight will be contested Saturday night..
The 53rd edition of the Trot carries a total purse of $724,770, with a pair of $40,000 elimination races and a $644,770 final.
As announced earlier in the week, Hambletonian winner Donato Hanover will be skipping the race. However, the Hambo runner-up, Adrian Chip will compete in the first elimination for the Yonkers Trot.
There is one supplemental entry, Green Day. Green Day, the lone gelding, was a $60,000 supplement. The son of Enjoy Lavec, trained by Jim Raymer and driven by Catello Manzi, has won seven of his 13 races and more than $221,000 this season. Green Day wound up fourth in last week's $30,000 Open Handicap Trot at Yonkers, taking on older foes after starting from post eight. His biggest win to date was the $338,000 final of the Nevele Pride in late June at Monticello.
