Current Yonkers and Freehold regular Jeff Gregory is $10,000 richer, as he’s crowned the winner of the All-Star drivers challenge that ended Wednesday Night (Oct-29) at Batavia Downs Gaming. The 42-year-old Gregory began his driving career in Western New York. Gregory’s 39 points, which he attained on Oct. 22, held up and he defeats seven other top reinsman from New York and Canada to take home the winner-take-all prize. The competition began on Sept. 10 and ran for eight consecutive weeks. Ontario’s Jody Jamieson finished second in the drivers' competition with 35 points while Howard Parker was third with 34. The Purple Haze Stable, the Western New York Harness Horsemen’s Association and Batavia Downs Gaming, sponsored the All-Star drivers challenge. The challenge also doubled as a fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester (BCCR). Between sponsorship of races, donation of All-Star drivers commission and a silent auction over $15,000 was raised. (Batavia Downs)
