Greg Grismore was in no mood to share the wealth on Friday night at Yonkers Raceway, sitting behind both $30,000 co-featured winners, the Filly and Mare Open Handicap Pace with invader Fiery Buckeye and the Open Trot with repeater No More Gold N. Fiery Buckeye, a half-sister to the potent Fly Fly Buckeye, left from post position five in her local bow. She made the lead before surrendering to Faith Leigh (Stephane Bouchard), herself a local debut winner in last week's distaff derby. Faith Leigh led through two-furlong intervals of :27.4, :57.1 and 1:26.2, with Brickyard Trouble (Ray Baynes) providing unwanted, first-over company. "Faith" remained first-out of the final turn, but was soon to be in short supply. Fiery Buckeye dove inside, getting the jump on her rivals. She found the wire a half-length before a fast-closing JK Pure Pearl (Jason Bartlett) in 1:55.1. That one outgamed a stubborn Brickyard Trouble, with Faith Leigh and 3-2 favorite Best Chance Hanna (Pat Lachance) completing the cashers. The people's choice was dull from second-over. For Fiery Buckeye, a 4-year-old daughter of Dragon Again trained by Mickey Burke for Edmarc Stables, it was her second (consecutive) win in eight seasonal starts. She returned $8.80 (third choice), with the exacta worth $115.50 and the triple good for $623. In the blind-draw featured trot, No More Gold N, the 9-5 fave after last week's winning Westchester debut, was hustled away from post six. He two-moved around Beach Nut Brand (Lachance) and led through weigh stations of :28.3, :58.3 and 1:28. One Nineteen (Bouchard) didn't do much for the cause first-up, forcing Brunton Tilly (Jeff Gregory) wide early in his local return. However, No More Gold N wasn't done prospecting. His 1 1/2-length lead entering the lane was a safe half-length at the wire, which he found in 1:56.4. Beach Nut Brand and Brunton Tilly finished in a heater for second, with Super Discipline (Bartlett) and Tell Me A Story (Jim Pantaleano) grabbing the small change. For No More Gold N, a 10-year-old Down Under Evander's Gold gelding trained by Dave Cornachione for co-owners Inquisitive Stables and Melinda Kash, it was his sixth win in nine '08 tries. (Yonkers)
