Groton Hall to stand at Walnut Hall Ltd.

Groton Hall, a lightly raced 4-year-old son of Conway Hall, out of Garbo Hall, by Lindy Lane, will stand this season at Walnut Hall Ltd. in Lexington, Ky. The announcement was made by Alan J. Leavitt, president of Walnut Hall Ltd., which is owned by his wife, Meg Jewett.

 

Groton Hall, a $125,000 yearling, suffered a racetrack injury in training at two that limited his racing career to six starts as a 3 year old, four qualifiers and two betting races.  He won them all going away, taking his record of 1:57.1f at Pocono in his last start, trotting his last quarter in 27.4.

 

Groton Hall’s sire, Conway Hall, has already established himself as a sire of sires with Broadway Hall and Windsong’s Legacy.  His dam, Garbo Hall, is a half sister to world champion Godiva Hall 4,1:53.3f ($808,008), and she descends from an unbroken line of fast, stakes winning trotters. However, Leavitt pointed out that Groton Hall has a very unusual 2 by 4 cross to Amour Angus, the sport’s all time greatest producer of great trotting sires.
