GSP’s Bob Brennan released from prison

Bob Brennan, who presided over the brief renaissance of Garden State Park in Cherry Hill, N.J. from 1985 to 2001, and was also convicted of securities and bankruptcy fraud as well as money laundering and obstruction of justice, was freed from prison on Jan. 7 after nearly 10 years in jail.

Brennan, 66, founded First Jersey Securities, a firm that specialized in “pump and dump” penny stocks to investors, the majority of whom were unsuspecting and elderly and who subsequently lost their entire investments when the stocks, which Brennan had artificially pumped up, crashed.

Brennan’s International Thoroughbred Breeders Inc., oversaw the rebuilding and re-opening of Garden State Park after a fire destroyed the grandstand in 1977. During its brief revival, the opulent track was host to several Breeders Crown races and the unforgettable March Of Dimes Trot which featured French legend Ourasi, American legend Mack Lobell and the great Sugarcane Hanover.
