Mike Gulotta of Deo Volente farms has been appointed a trustee with the New Jersey Sires Stakes. For Gulotta, it's the logical extension of the commitment Deo Volente has made to the New Jersey breeding industry via the acquisition of a world class broodmare band in addition to standing the stallions Wishing Stone and If I Can Dream at its Flemington facility.
Following in the European tradition, Wishing Stone will do dual duty this season by standing stud and racing. The son of Conway Hall was a Kentucky Futurity winner at three, a Copenhagen Cup winner at 5 and a US world champion last year at age 6.
If I Can Dream (Western Hanover-Arterra) is the bigger, richer full brother to leading sire Western Terror, standing his first season in New Jersey this year. Previously, If I Can Dream stood in New York, producing several solid New York Sires Stakes types in his debut crop last year. All foals of Wishing Stone and If I Can Dream will be eligible to the continuing New Jersey-sired stakes and racing program.
