A large turnout of trainers, drivers, breeders, owners and others who favor racetrack slots would be helpful to support the efforts of prominent horse owner and breeder Michael J. Gulotta, who will be testifying at a public hearing of the New Jersey State Senate Budget & Appropriations Committee on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Montclair State University.

Gulotta, whose Deo Volente Farms in Flemington is the newest breeding farm in New Jersey, plans to speak not only on the benefits of racetracks with video lottery terminals – racinos –to equine interests but also to the budgetary issues in the state.

He will be testifying during the 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. timeslot of the hearings which will address the State Budget for Fiscal Year 2010.

“Many of the Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey directors will be attending the hearing to support Mike Gulotta, and we urge as many of our members as possible to do so as well,” said SBOANJ President Tom Luchento.

The hearings, which will begin at 9 a.m., will take place in the University Conference Center of Montclair State University, 1 Normal Avenue, Montclair, NJ.  Members of the public attending the hearing will be asked to show identification, sign in a log book and provided with a visitor’s pass to wear throughout the hearing.
