Gural unveils Tioga plans

New York City-based owner and breeder Jeff Gural met with about 100 Tioga County residents Wednesday night and unveiled his plans for the re-opening of Tioga Park as a harness racetrack in 2006. Gural is planning on investing $20 million in the track that has not hosted live racing consistently since the 1970s.



Gural said the project will create 377 jobs, with expected revenue in the first year reach about $55 million. Project plans include the addition of video lottery terminals, a restaurant, bar, and sports bar and lounge.



Plans call for Tioga Park to race live 54 days a year, from May through early September. The project still needs approval from the Tioga County legislature as well as from the Town of Nichols, where the track sits.
