The Morrisville College Equine Institute Sale was held Monday, in Morrisville, N.Y., with 152 yearlings bringing an average price of $8,879. The sale topper was Planet Hallywood, a son of world champion Cash Hall out of the Pine Chip mare Spin The Planet. Consigned by the Morrisville College Equine Institute, Planet Hollywood was purchased by trainer Trond Smedshammer for $45,000. Planet Hallywood is a half brother to a pair of $200,000-plus winners, including the 2011 New York Sires Stakes champion Royal Shyster. Smedshammer also purchased Royal Marley, a son of RC Royalty out of the Conway Hall mare Marquee Nights, for $40,000. Royal Sambuca, a son of RC Royalty out of the Well Done mare Heather Weather, was purchase by James Lee for $35,000. Overall, eight yearlings by RC Royalty brought an average price of $20,062. Twelve yearlings by Crazed brought an average price of $15,558. The leading pacing sire by average price was Art Major, with three yearlings bringing an average $20,900.
