Three-year-old trotting colts were worth watching at the Meadowlands Thursday night as Big Bikkies, a son of Windsong's Legacy, won by 11 3/4 lengths in 1:53.4, and Mr. Cantab was a 7 1/4-length victor in 1:54. Both colts are eligible to the Hambletonian.
Big Bikkies, a homebred owned by Adam Victor & Son Stable, made a big brush past the three-quarter pole and took control of his overnight, powering home in :27.4. Noel Daley trains the colt.
With Andy Miller in the sulky, Mr. Cantab ($2.80 $2.40 $2.20) moved swiftly to the lead at the quarter pole andheld off all challengers to win a $15,000 overnight for 3 and 4 year olds. It was 7 1/4 lengths back to Southwind Wasabi ($4.40 $3.60) and 11 3-4 lengths back to Rapsong ($3.20). Mr. Cantab is owned by Brittany Farms, John Carver, Ronald Michelon and Riverview Farms. The son of Cantab Hall-Miss Marita is trained by Erv Miller.
