Two track records highlighted, and eight wins by driver Roger Hammer highlighted a 17-race card Wednesday at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Wattsburg, Pa., as Sire Stake action filled the card on the third and final day of the meet.

Freshman colt pacers opened the day, and victories were tallied by Dewey (Sharky Spur), Red Hot Scandal (Real Artist) and A K (Audie K). Red Hot Scandal, catch-driven by Hammer for trainer Boots Dunn, posted the fastest time among the divisions, 2:06.1.

2-year-old colt trotters were battling next in two $5,200 divisions. BS Surgin Don (Bedford County), out of the Dean and Sue Brickell Stable, won the first grouping in 2:13.3 for driver Dave Brickell, while Hammer guided another Dunn Stable entry, Political Desire (Tom Ridge), to victory in 2:09.2 in the second group. It was more of the same in the filly divisions, as BS Genny (Malabar Millennium) won for the Brickells in 2:12.4. Kantrotalot (SJ's Caviar) won the other split in 2:14.1 for driver Ed McNeight Jr.

Hammer swept the 3YO pacing filly divisions with a pair of horses out of his own barn, Ty's Artist (Real Artist) and Makerbark (Dragon Again). Ty's Artist covered the mile in 2:06.3, while Makerbark equaled the all-time track standard for sophomore pacing fillies with a 2:04 mile.

In the next race, Mud Pie Hanover (Allamerican Native) set a new track record for 2YO pacing fillies by winning her PASS event in 2:05.1 for driver Steve Schoeffel. Brickell picked up his third winning drive of the day in the second division, behind DVC Fivoclock (Quentin Hanover) in 2:08.1. Hammer's Real Espresso (Real Artist) won the third divsion in 2:10.3.

The same three drivers, Schoeffel, Brickell and Hammer, came back in the same order to win the next three races. First, Schoeffel guided Special Character (Shady Character) to a 2:10 victory after a leisurely opening half of 1:10. Brickell's SB Quents Knight (Quentin Hanover) won the second split in 2:08.2. Both of those events were PASS 3YO colt pacing splits.

Hammer returned to the winner's circle with Sharkie's Girl (Shark Kosmos) in the first division of the 3YO filly trot, winning in 2:10.1. He then proceeded to win the next two races, with SJ's Future (SJ's Photo) and Valentine De Vie (Lindy Lane). SJ's Future gave Hammer his fifth training win of the day, while Dunn earned his third training victory with Valentine De Vie.
