Veteran driver Brad Hanners, a winner of 3,641 races during his career, will make his Pompano Park debut on Wednesday when getting behind the 4-year-old pacer Yankee Raven for trainer Terry Deters in the evening’s fourth race.

A native of the City of Washington Court House, Ohio, Hanners has been a regular on the Delaware circuit since 2000 and has won driving championships at both Dover Downs and Harrington Raceway. The 35 year old has prevailed in 85 of 746 starts during 2007, with over $1 million in purse money won for the year.

Hanners, who began his career in harness racing at Scioto Downs in 1985, competed in his first qualifying race in 1987 and made his pari-mutuel driving debut in 1989, visiting the winner’s circle once in 18 starts that year.

Throughout his career, Hanners-driven horses have accumulated $27,534,782 in purse money. His most lucrative season came in 2005 when he visited the winner’s circle 478 times, with over $4.7 million in purse money earned.

The biggest victory of Hanners’ career came in the $250,000 Pacing Classic final at Dover Downs on Nov. 24, 2003 when he guided Ashlee’s Big Guy to a 45-1 upset victory over the likes of Royal Mattjesty, Four Starzz Shark, and Peruvian Hanover. (Pompano Park)
