The trotting stallion Andover Hall celebrated his 10th birthday at Hanover Shoe Farms on Monday, and farm personnel gave him a little extra attention to commemorate the milestone, including a bran mash and carrots. A regular birthday cake was also baked for Andover, but after sniffing it, the stallion decided to stick to his bran mash.
Andover Hall is owned by Erkki Laakkonen of Finland, who suffered a stroke last year and remains under medical care.
Andover Hall will begin his work for the 2009 breeding season in just a few days, since the traditional beginning is around Feb. 15.
