The heavily favored Happy Dreamer continued her dominance of New Jersey-sired 2-year-old pacing fillies with a lifetime-best 1:55 victory in the $37,500 New Jersey Futurity Friday afternoon at Freehold Raceway. The daughter of McArdle, with Andy Miller driving, led from start to finish, winning by 2 1/4 lengths over Dreamlands Latte.
Happy Dreamer, trained by Julie Miller for Lomangino Standardbreds of Tinton Falls, N.J., notched her fourth victory and has now finished in the money in all seven of her career starts. She has previously won the $80,000 Lou Babic Filly Pace final and the $35,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Green Acres final for 2-year-old pacing fillies.
In the $38,000 New Jersey Futurity for 2-year-old pacing colts and geldings, Dear Mac, also sired by McArdle, won by two lengths in 1:55.3 over McCedes. With the favorite Meant To Be scratched, Dear Mac closed in the stretch to win in 1:55.1. It was his first win in 10 starts this year for trainer Noel Daley and co-owners Anthony and Carol Risi of Christiano, Pa., and Bernrd O’Brien of Lecanto, Fla.
