Turn off those reruns! The USTA and Tioga and Vernon Downs are each presenting new episodes of their harness racing-themed shows. On Tursday, July 1, the USTA will look forward to the upcoming Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, and also look back at North America Cup night at Mohawk Racetrack. Those two events are the top items in the new edition of “Eye on Harness Racing,” the USTA’s weekly online video magazine.
The program, sponsored by TrackMaster, may be seen by visiting www.ustrotting.com or youtube.com/ustrotting. At the latter website, the USTA's Youtube channel, you can also see past editions of the program -- and dozens of other harness racing videos. The USTA also has a "Media" page at its website, at www.ustrotting.com/media/media.cfm, where all USTA-produced videos and audio podcasts, including "Eye on Harness Racing" and “Here They Come,” may also be seen or heard. Industry-related websites are also encouraged to embed each week’s video on their own pages. On Wednesday, July 7, Tioga Downs and Vernon Downs will present the second episode of their brand new television show, “Inside Harness Racing.” This 30-minute weekly television show airs Wednesdays at 6:00 PM Eastern on Time Warner Cable Sports and can be seen by more than 250,000 people throughout Central New York and the Southern Tier. It can also be seen online at the Tioga Downs YouTube site. (www.youtube.com/tiogadowns). The next episode includes highlights and interviews from the New York Sires Stakes at Vernon Downs. It also includes a feature on drivers’ colors and Hall of Fame announcer Jim Moran. Our cameras were also there when seven special needs children and their families toured the Tioga Downs backstretch during training hours. “We’re excited to be able to expose a whole new audience to our colorful and exciting sport,” says host and producer Justin Horowitz. “Whether you’re brand new to harness racing or have been a fan for decades, there’s something for you each week.” “Inside Harness Racing” is hosted and produced by Justin Horowitz and features Jason Settlemoir and Wendy Ross as field reporters while Jim Rotundo handles videography and production.
