Harness Racing Youth League, the summer camp program of the Harness Horse Youth Foundation, received the inaugural American Youth Horse Council Partnership Award. HHYF Executive Director Ellen Taylor was presented with a plaque, clippers, and western print at the AYHC annual symposium, held Saturday, March 1 in Raleigh, N.C.
The award recognizes “exemplary leadership development activities to young people and connecting kids through horses” and is sponsored by Purina Mills.
“To receive this honor from the AYHC, which represents many youth horse organizations and disciplines, is truly an honor,” said HHYF president Callie Davies-Gooch. “While HHYF appreciates this prestigious award and our program has proven it works in introducing new young fans to harness racing, our mission isn’t complete until we reach more children and add new educational aspects. Our mission continues.”
HRYL has scheduled six planned camps this summer including stops at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, Harrington Raceway, Vernon Downs, The Meadows, Indiana Downs, and The Red Mile.
Established in 1976, the Harness Horse Youth Foundation addresses youth education throughout the United States and Canada. For more information about the organization and its programs, please call the HHYF office at (317) 867-5877 or visit www.hhyf.org. (HHYF)
